Back to blogging

I took a couple months off from blogging.  It was nice.  It allowed me to read more and and not worry about coming up with a post.  Well, that hiatus is over.

Puppies and Rainbows

I have not blogged in almost a month.  Why is this?

I am trying to find my niche.  I am guessing my niche would be what I am passionate about.  Is that what your niche is on your blog?

Here is what I am passionate about in alphabetical order: The Church, Social Media, Sports and Web 2.0(which  is kind of Social Media)

So my question is what does this look like as a blog?  Help me.  Please give me your ideas and how I can create a blog based on these things.

I like writing, but have hit a road block the last couple of months.  Part of this has to do with me trying to find a new job I guess.

Anyways, what are your thoughts?

March Madness?

If you are a college basketball fan like myself, then you know that the tournament really begins in October when teams are allowed to hold official practices.

Odds are that your team is already out of the tournament.  The field is down to 16 and by the end of this weekend will be down to the Final Four.  My team by the way is Oklahoma State.  We put up a good fight against Pitt, but our inability to rebound over their guys really hurt us in the end.  All the other stats were pretty even except for the rebounding margin.

So, who is your team?  Who do you follow all year round?  Or are you the fan who only follows during the season? Or the fan who only follows once the tourney starts?

Who do you have winning it all in your bracket, and who do you want to win it in your heart?

Magic Johnson

I meant to put this on my blog a while ago.  This summer my wife and I went to see “Dark Night” at our little move theater here in Dana Point.  We were waiting in line and at the front was Magic.  I’m a hug basketball fan, not a Laker fan, but I loved watching Magic play when I was little.

Couple of videos from college

I received my degree in Broadcast Journalism and found a couple of videos.  The first one is on my friend Kenny’s youtube page and the second is on mine.  They are a little embarrassing and if you know me they may be a little funny.  Enjoy.

The little guy

I have a heart for the little guy.  The youth pastor who has to do everything on his own.  The youth pastor who leads a youth group as a full time volunteer.  The youth pastor who doesn’t have time to do everything he needs to to be the best youth pastor he can be.  The youth pastor who can’t afford to buy youth ministry products.  The youth pastor who has no one to bounce stuff off of.  The youth pastor who has the passion and desire to be a youth pastor, but needs a little help with his or her messages.  This is the youth pastor I want to help.  How this is going to happen will be unfolding slowly over the next few months.  I am super excited about this idea and the guy I have been brainstorming it with.  His blog is here.

So, because I have a passion for this and because I am not sure where this will go over time and I am not sure what it will take to get going it will be done on the side.

I have more info for you about some other exciting things going on in my life, but that post willbe later this week.

Just Carrying on

That is the title of my blog.  The last words my grandpa Snyder told me before he died almost 9 years ago were, “Carry on young man.”

I decided to name my blog after this statement.  Carrying on is not as easy as it sounds.  It’s really hard.  I now wish I was able to ask my grandpa exactly what he meant by it.  I have some ideas.

Anyways, if you need me I will be around carring on.

Really?

Do you sometimes feel scared about doing something?  What if that something is taking a huge leap into the unknown, but you know it is the right thing to do.  What if that thing is not at all what you know?  What if you are getting in way over your head? Do you ever feel like you are forcing something when it is not something you should be forcing?  Do you do what you do because it is comfortable?  What if what you have been doing for the last how ever many years is not your calling?  Or it is your calling, but just looks a lot different than what you are trying to make it?

These are questions I have been wrestling with and talking through and trying to answer.  I am not really sure where this post is going or if you even care.  These are tough questions.  These are real questions.  What are the answers?  I am not sure, but when I figure them out I will let you know.

Once a week… Maybe?

Blogging.  I really don’t blog much anymore.  I feel like it goes in cycles for me.  Lately I have been blogging about once a week.  I am sure in the near future I wil blog more consistantly because of things that will be happening this year, but for now expect about 1 or 2 posts a week if you are one of the few people who read this anyways.

That is all

Blogging vs. Twittering

I have been finding it harder and harder to blog on a consistant basis.  I tend to blame it on twitter.  I get so much more info on Twitter and quicker versus using a blog reader and blogging myself.  It’s simpler and easier.  I can put pics on twitter.  An or the most part, my thoughts are usually less than 140 characters anyways.

How about you?  Do you find yourself blogging less?
